Famyard’s Tree Planting Drive at the Chaka Launch

CHAKA, NYERI COUNTY — Tree planting mattered as much as the ribbon-cutting ceremony that opened Famyard Enterprises Ltd’s newest phase of plots in Chaka. Company leadership, uniformed security officers, families, and individual investors all took a turn with a spade during the launch, adding dozens of tree seedlings to the site’s fenced-off grounds.

Not Just a Photo Opportunity

The drive was organised as a deliberate counterweight to the land clearing that comes with any new development. Famyard’s leadership team planted the first row of trees, followed by a group of security officers stationed at the event — a detail the company points to as evidence that the initiative went beyond a single ceremonial planting.

Families attending the launch, including children in school uniform, joined in with watering cans once the seedlings were in the ground. For a company whose core product is raw land, tying every plot sale to a visible environmental commitment is as much a brand decision as a civic one. Individual investors who had already bought into the project took their own turn with a spade later in the day, planting trees on the plots they now own.

Part of a Wider Pattern

The plots at the centre of the launch, part of the Chaka Lane 15 Famyard Estate and neighbouring Chaka Ngatha Estate, sit along the new Chaka Bypass — a road corridor that will bring more traffic and, eventually, more construction to the area. Seedlings planted now will mature alongside the neighbourhood itself, part of the fully serviced infrastructure package Famyard is building into every plot it sells there.
